Biography

Date of birth: December 5, 1969
Place of birth: Tahiatash city, Karakalpakstan.
Place of residence: Almaty city, Kazakhstan.

Shokbytov Sultanmakhmut  Nokatovich is a sport producer, deals with promotion of popular Kazakhstan sportsmen at world arena. From 1999 to 2007 he was a chief coach of national select team of Kazakhstan on taekwondo. In period from 1990 to 1996 he became repeated champion of Kazakhstan, Russia, USSR and international tournaments on taekwondo.

The experience and understanding of needs of sport sector of Kazakhstan encouraged Sultanmakhmut  Nokatovich to promote Kazakhstan champions at world arena.

Being a repeated champion of Kazakhstan (1992-1996), Russia (1990-1992), USSR (1990-1991) and international tournaments on taekwondo (Bilbao, Spain - 1991, Yalova, Turkey – 1992 г), Central Asia Games, Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 1995, having excellent experience of coach work, during which for the first time in history of Kazakhstan a pass to Olympic games 2004 (Athens) was received by his trainee Sagindykov Adilkhan. He arranged the systematic approach to training of Kazakhstan sportsmen in national team. Having obtained great experience while executing duties as an acting director of Directorate of winter Asian games 2011 under administration of Almaty city, he knows that the promotion of Kazakhstan sportsmen requires that their achievements would be well known not only in Kazakhstan but to foreign investors and business in sport sector.

Thanks to his experience Shokbytov Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich knows well how many years a professional sportsman invests into development and improvement of his/her sport skills, at the same time the period of recognition of his merits is very short which lasts only as long as a championship’s awarding ceremony.  It is known from the world experience, the very sportsmen who have achieved recognition at international level and managed to become the best in sport can be best in everything, and not only in sport but also in business, public administration and any other field which they are interested in. Shokbytov Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich wants the achievements of Kazakhstan sportsmen work for them and reinforce them during their whole lives.

The ability to be the best in everything is an intrinsic quality of champions. This quality has differentiated Shokbytov Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich since his childhood. He won first places at city and republic math competitions, finished a secondary school with golden medal and Tver State University with distinction. During his study at the university he went in for taekwondo actively. Intensive trainings and exercises helped him to be included into select team of the oblast and take part in First All-Soviet Union tournament on taekwondo, as a result he won the bronze medal. His first success helped him to be noticed and included into select team of Russia. As a member of select team of Russia he repeatedly won the title of champion of Russia (1990, 1991, 1992). In 1990 he won the golden medal at the USSR championship, and bronze prize winner of the USSR championship in 1990. The cup of the USSR in 1991 brought him a silver medal. At international tournament in Bilbao (Spain) in 1991 he won the bronze medal.

Of the numerous sport competitions the brightest trace in his memory was seared by his trip to Spain. The reason was not just the winning third place but the inspiration made by Korean team to the young sportsman. Watching the bouts where sportsmen from the country recognized as a native land of taekwondo participated, he felt great difference in the levels of mastership and realized that he needed to improve.

At the CIS championship Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich got acquainted with the founders of taekwondo in Kazakhstan, i.e. Mustafa Ozturk and Bekseit Tulkiev.
This was a period when he had to decide whether to stay in Russia or to return to native Kazakhstan. Being a patriot of his country, he made an important decision - to live and act in favor of his native-land. After moving to Kazakhstan in 1992 Sultanmakhmut  Nokatovich as a member of Kazakhstan select team took part in World Championship in New York. Later he participated in International tournament in Yalova (Turkey) and won the golden medal. The period from 1992 to 1996 brought splendid victories at Kazakhstan championships to Sultanmakhmut Shokbytov. As a member of Kazakhstan team he became a gold medal holder of Central Asia Games in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 1995.

Analyzing the results of championships at different levels and making conclusions, Sultanmakhmut  Nokatovich discovered the reason of the most failures of Kazakhstan sportsmen in tactical errors and insufficient trainings. Then the strong wish to professionally train the youth to lead the national team of Kazakhstan to the new level and represent the country decently at world sport arena at the World, Asian and Olympic level championships.

In 1997 Sultanmakhmut  Nokatovich started working as a coach. Since the beginning of his coach career Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich has invested a lot into creation of friendly consolidated team, to bring up the sportsmen who were able to present our country worthily at world arena.  In 1998 Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich was assigned as a senior trainer and in late 1999 as a Chief Coach of national select team of Kazakhstan on taekwondo. As a chief coach of national taekwondo team he was able to get the actual state support persuading the governing body to pay proper attention and render financial support to taekwondo. From 1999 to 2007 the sportsmen achieved significant results, such as: first time in history of Kazakhstan a pass to Olympic games 2004 (Athens) was won by Sagindykov Adilkhan, who took 5th  place, medals at World championships of 1999 and 2003, Summer Asian games of 1998, 2002, 2006, at 2006 Asian Championship select team of Kazakhstan was recognized as a breakthrough-team by winning 1 golden and 5 bronze medals and surprising by their preparation the representatives from Asia where taekwondo is very developed. In these years the trainings of sportsmen of Kazakhstan select team was systematized, attention and trust from sport administration was increased.

Realizing that for better promotion of Kazakhstan sportsmen and for improvement of Kazakhstan’s image it was necessary to organize an Asian taekwondo championship in our country, Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich supported by taekwondo federation acted as one of organizing bodies for the Third Asian Championship on taekwondo among juniors in 2005. These were the first official international competitions on taekwondo in Kazakhstan. The tournament had great importance, as for the first time the international refereing got an insight into development of taekwondo in Kazakhstan. At this tournament our sportsmen won one golden, four silver and 10 bronze medals. 16 out of 20 sportsmen  became the prize winners and adding confidence for further international competitions. Kazakhstan’s taekwondo received additional impulse and incitement for the development and popularization among youngsters. Since then the whole series of brilliant sportsmen have grown who achieved high results at international competitions.

In September 2007 Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich was invited to Directorate of Winter Asian games. The work at the directorate opened for him the large image project which is able to bring Kazakhstan sport to the qualitatively new level. Under Sultanmakhmut Shokbytov’s management of the directorate of Winter Asian games great work was done on preparation of public for the forthcoming Asian games: propaganda of idea of Asiada, organizational work, coordination of municipal facilities, monitoring, drawing Plans of structural bodies, decoration of the city, organization of various sport and mass events, opening of the countdown indicator, Chef-de mission of Asian Olympic Council, organization of testing competitions.

Organization, administration and management activities made Sultanmakhmut Nokatovich to look for new ways for promotion of Kazakhstan sportsmen, i.e. invaluable human resources of our country and made him realize the need in bringing up the youth by giving bright examples of heroes of national sport and purposefully engage in preparation of young talented sportsmen. There is a need in creation of VIP-listing of Kazakhstan’s sportsmen with a data base on all their achievements to make them public and available to investors and businessmen in sport sector.
