My heart is glad that there are people who show genuine concern for the people and their native land. It won\t be excessive to call Saidulla Kozhabaev, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaztransformator, deputy of oblast maslikhat, one of such great sons of the nation. Saidulla is a real man, brought up in the national spirit, in whose veins there circulates the blood of noble Kazakh nation. And he has something to share.
"Intensive steps of Kaztransformator"
Middle son in the family Saidulla Iliyasovich says: "The secret of longevity of my mother Aizhan, who is more than ninety years old now, is not only hard work and proper nutrition, but also wonderful and warm relationships with kind and sincere people, the unity of the surrounding loved people, and our respect and care for the eldest of the family."
Mukhtar Auezov, who visited southern Kazakhstan while working on his novel named "Osken orken", called the city of Kentau the "Crown of Karatau" because of its inexpressible beauty. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, our country obtained independence, but during the transition period to the "market economy", the "Crown of Karatau" – Kentau city, was one of the many cities that were in distress.
At this time Saidulla Kozhabaev, having worked at the plant "Achpolimetall" and having obtained considerable experience, after consulting with employees bought shares of Kentau transformer factory in 1997. Of course, it was not easy to re-raise the factory, established in 1959, which was on the verge of ruin because of the market failure. "I always wanted to show that the Kazakh is no worse than others. He tried to prove this by actions"- says Saidulla Iliyasovich.
"Thus, in 1997 the plant began to produce its first products in the amount of 207 million 627 thousand tenge, and to pay wages of seven thousand tenge on average to each employee, but even that was hard to overcome, we had to pay with products. In 1998 the factory produced products worth 282 million 240 tenge. And in 1999 after receiving the state's share of the defaulted "Almaty electrotechnical plant", we merged it with Kentau transformer plant and created a company called "Kaztransformator". At that time the debt of Kentau plant to workers and utility networks was over 90 million tenge. As a result of joint activity, we finished the current tasks and released high-quality products to the market. Due to this, we fully repaid the debt to the state and workers. In the same year we launched new production lines, began to take the first steps towards the international market.
In 2000, we stopped paying the workers with products and reached total cash settlement. In those years an average salary of main shop workers was 20 000 KZT and in the subsidiary shops it was 10,000 tenge on average. We also undertook to equip the production lines with the modern technological equipment. Due to finances obtained from a bank loan, we bought special installation tools and machines from developed European countries, such as Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and launched production of higher quality and low cost.
Thus, with a great hope for the future, accumulated experience, achievements and results of hard work, we crossed the threshold of XXI century "through the thorns to the stars."
On November 4, 2005, during the celebration of Oraza Ait, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the city of Kentau whose foundation was laid on the basis of "Achpolimetal", i.e. a multiple world record owner for drilling pits. The city was included in the list of small towns of the republic, where because of the economic situation, the jobs were suspended. The President got acquainted with the Kentau transformer plant, talked to the workers. The team of the plant, during an open and friendly dialogue with the President, witnessed his humility and gratefully appreciated him for his responsiveness.
During the excursion in the shops, the President was pleased with the Kazakh youth who mastered advanced technologies and showed exemplary performance of hard work in their effort to improve the competitiveness of the plant on a global level. The President said goodbye to the staff the plant, shook my hand and expressed his gratitude by saying, "Thank you dear, you're a real man." Having heard such words from him, I was genuinely happy for all of us, that we have such an unrivaled leader as Nursultan Nazarbayev"- shared Saidulla.
Of course, that year became an incentive for the team of the plant to rise to even higher level of their career, to new heights. During the month Saidulla Қozhabaev was awarded with "Kurmet" order by the Decree of the President. The nation appreciated the merits of their son.
"In 2006-2007, our business developed rapidly, we produced over 300 kinds of products. Our plant first in the CIS mastered the technology of dry-type transformers, and for the staff of the plant this year was another point in their promotion. New production units were created, and thus, new jobs were opened. On the whole, more than a thousand employees worked in our factory in 2007, and their average salary was 65 thousand tenge. There was quality demand for all types of our products along with ones by European manufacturers."
"I think we have achieved all of this thanks to the care about the team, the results of discipline and procedures," - says Saidulla.
The vast majority of the plant workers are the Kazakhs. Still, it makes you wonder about the fact that the Kazakh people, especially young men and women who grew up in villages, rarely choose science and engineering professions and devote themselves to agriculture and animal breeding. This prevents our nation from the prospective development of our people. And the wrong reasoning that "the Kazakhs are not adapted to the technique," also hurts the pride of the people.
In 2008 Southern Kazakhstan shifted to the state language, the team of the plant prepares the official papers and documents in the state language. After all, thrive and prosper those people, whose language and culture are developed.
Our President is dreaming that the population will reach 20 million by 2015. In this case, the plant's management has done a lot of activities, to contribute to the demographic growth of the people so that to serve as an example to others. For example, mothers and working women of the plant, in addition to state benefits and maternity leave, are paid a lump sum of 50 thousand tenge at the expense of the plant. The factory set up housing fund, where apartments are given to young professionals and workers, who are waiting in queues for accommodation. In the past year 17 flats were allocated, and this year we are planning to grant additional 20 apartments. This year during the holiday of Kurban Ait, by the Board of Directors decided to grant free of charge a 2-bedroom apartment to Zh.Arysbaev, a worker of the assembly shop, who grew up without parents since his childhood.
"In addition, we ask the administration of the city for an empty dormitory, - says the company head - we will carry out major repairs, and we want to make a nursery for the factory workers. The kitchen and the dining room works in three shifts to serve the employees. "The main asset is health," and on this issue we also advocate a healthy lifestyle with no bad habits, tobacco and alcohol use, we conduct educational work. In this regard, it was agreed that 2.5 percent of total annual bonus for smokers will be issued to nonsmokers. As a result, over 400 people have given up smoking.
One of the five requirements of a Muslim is to perform five-time-prayer. We also created an opportunity to perform the prayers by providing a separate room, hot water, space for washing and addition to the salary in the amount of 5000 tenge.
Also, we pay special attention to young professionals. We establish a connection with high school graduates, and acquaint them with the life of the plant, give advice and guidance in choosing a future profession. As a result, in the recent years 5-20 graduates from Kentau and Turkestan cities were enrolled to Almaty Institute of Energy and Communications. We have a lot of plans in front of us. This is to contribute to the achievement of the President's task of entering the top 50 most competitive countries.
This year we are planning to release a transformer with a voltage of 35 - 500 kW upon German technology, which are needed by a variety of industrial enterprises of our republic. In this regard construction work is carried out for a building for installation of special equipment. If this project is implemented, it will create additional 600 jobs.
The negotiations with the U.S. company "Orakol" and the Japanese company "ROTOBO" towards the introduction of automated management systems, according to modern requirements. The launch of this program is estimated at 300 thousand dollars.
I think, in anticipation of joining the WTO, our staff will surely be competitive among world organizations for the production of electrical products. At present, our specialists are equipped with computers, according to ISO quality standard requirements.
Our achievements in this honorable matter are due to our active employees, who work tirelessly for the benefit of the common cause. Our heroes are the Honorary Citizen of Kentau city Sergazy Nurtazaevich Kuntuarov, a deputy of maslikhat, who began his career at the plant in 1984 as an engineer, and currently is the CEO, as well as the executive director of the plant Anuar kazhy Sattarovich Aitenov, director of Almaty Electromechanical Plant Abutalip Sypashovich Kudaibergenov.
"Today our lives are absolutely different from yesterday. Time passes quickly, and I have reached the fiftieth anniversary. If God allows, next year we will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of our plant, "This is our long-waited holiday," – said the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaztransformator, the deputy of oblast maslikhat, and just a person whose heart beats with a special love for the nation, the people and the native land.
