The Kurmangazy Kazakh National conservatoire is the first higher music institution in Kazakhstan which provides professional musical education. For the years of its work the team of the conservatoire has accrued unique experience of preparing highest level staff demanded not only in Kazakhstan but also abroad.  The institute has provided numerous outstanding performing musicians and art people who decently present our country to the world.

The Kurmangazy Kazakh National conservatoire today is a modern, dynamically developing institute located in two study buildings.

For students and teachers of the institute there are large equipped classrooms, 170-seat Chamber hall, Small concert hall for 236 seats, sport and training halls, reading hall, library and media room, computer room, Internet, TV and radio complex, printing office, musical workshop, dining room and many other facilities. The dormitory for nonresidents has 42 study rooms, reading and sport rooms, home appliances and new furniture.  The students of the conservatoire study on new musical instruments of best German and Japan producers (Steinway, Grotrian-Steinweg, Seiler, Yamaha, Bluthner, August Forster), as well as on electronic instruments for string quartet.

For the last years the institute has activated international cooperation and tours of art groups.
The Kurmangazy Kazakh National conservatoire is an administrator of large international festivals and contests, such as International pianist contest, “Nauryz-21” international festival of contemporary music, international contest of chamber music, “Asyl mura” traditional music contest, etc.
Large organ hall for 500 guests has become Almaty’s architectural sight and prestigious concert hall after its refurbishment in 2004.

Since 2004 the conservatoire has smoothly shifted to credit education system. Step by step new undergraduate and postgraduate programs such as “Art management” have been added. The TV and radio center created at the conservatoire will allow to offer programs in sound producing, sound engineering and music critics, program editors and radio announcers. The languages of study at the conservatoire are Kazakh and Russian
Since 1997 the rector of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory has been professor Jania Aubakirova, prize-winner of many international contests, National Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
