Biography

Baurzhan Bektemirov is а candidate for Master of Public Policy degree at the University of Chicago Harris School for Public Policy. His interests include game theory, mathematical models, economic development, fiscal and monetary policy, education policy.

Bektemirov Baurzhan holds a B.A. degree in Mathematics from Harvard College, he also spent one semester at an exchange program at the University of Bologna, Italy. In 2009–2011, he worked at "Samruk-Kazyna" Sovereign Wealth Fund; in 2011–2012 served as Head of Mathematical Modeling Division and Head of Center for Global Economy and Integration Research at the Economic Research Institute under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

He won multiple medals at the International Math Olympiads, was the absolute winner of National Olympiad; published an article in the Monthly Bulletin of American Math Society. Received Talented student awards from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on two occasions, received acknowledgement letters from the Minister of Economic Development and Trade and CEO of "Samruk-Kazyna" SWF. Baurzhan is fluent in Kazakh, Russian, English, Italian, and Turkish.
