On December 13 this year, there were held "kazaksha kures" (Kazakh wrestling) competitions between schools, with the support of Almaty City and Almaly district Administration, under the supervision of a deputy of Almaty city Maslikhat, chairman of Almaly regional public association "Kazakh language" Shalabayev Kusman Karimuly in the eve of the 18th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Especially worth mentioning is the fact that the competition was held in Almaty for the first time. In this half-forgotten, now revived kind of competition 105 students, young wrestlers were involved. During the trials in each weight class it was observed from the very beginning, that more than half of students were gifted athletes. Coaches who came to watch the competitions chose the promising students.

Competitions were so exciting that the mother of the famous wrestler Daulet Turlyhanov  Marziya apai presented gifts, expressed gratitude and gave blessings. Young fighters who recognize the hero's mother, surrounded her and took pictures on the memory. The same repeated for Kusman Karimuly, nicknamed the generous Atymtay of Almaty. The pupils sincerely expressed gratitude to Kusman Karimuly for the organization of the competition, for the purchase of sports uniforms and for fathering.

The next day on December 14 in the hall of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan Majilis Aitys (competition of orators) was held among the poet-improvisers. 

The audience could not help wondering at how the young people mastered sharp words, meaningful rhymes, apt thoughts and jokes. The people here saw all the wealth of the Kazakh language, described by the great Abay, and were very pleased. The hall was full.
